A VISUAL JOURNEY INTO THE BLUES
The Inspiration Behind My Paintings
"A Blues Journey" is a visual coffee table book that captures the essence of Blues musicians through my art. The inspiration behind my paintings stems from my deep appreciation for the Blues genre and its rich history. The raw emotion and soulful melodies of Blues music have profoundly influenced my artistic style, guiding my brushstrokes, texture pallets and color choices.
Blues musicians hold a significant place in my life. Their stories, struggles, and triumphs resonate deeply with me and are reflected in my paintings. Each piece in this book is a tribute to the resilience and spirit of these artists, who have shaped the Blues genre and left an indelible mark on music history.
Specific musicians, such as Muddy Waters, T-Bone Walker, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Howling Wolf, Albert King and more have had a profound impact on my art. Their music has been a constant source of inspiration, guiding my creative process and helping me to capture the essence of the Blues in my paintings. Through their melodies, I have found a way to express the depth of human emotion and the beauty of the Blues.
Creating this book has been a journey in itself. From the initial sketches to the final paintings, each step has been a labor of love. I have poured my heart and soul into this project, and I hope that readers will feel the passion and the dedication that went into every page.
Thank you for your interest in my project!

Hi, My name is Ben Broadfoot and I am the artist & illustrator of A Blues Journey, a visual art book of Musicians for their significant influence on the evolution and popularity of blues music across generations.
My journey with blues music art began in the heart of the South, where the soulful melodies of the Delta blues first took root. As I traveled, I was constantly drawn to the rhythm and emotion of blues musicians, always seeking out performances and creating art that captured its essence.
At the age of 18, I embarked on an adventure that took me to Europe for four years, followed by two years in the vibrant streets of New York City, and then onto the sunny shores of California for five years. Throughout my travels, I attended countless music shows, engaged in conversations with my blues heroes, and immersed myself in the world of blues. But above all, I never stopped creating art that celebrated and preserved the legacy of these influential artists.
A Blues Journey was founded to honor the blues musicians who have shaped this iconic genre and their significant impact on the music and culture.
Their Influence on Blues Music & Contemporary Representation
The selection includes musicians from the golden period of the blues, mostly the 1920's through to the 1970's. This period bridges a period of time called the great migration of people which carried blues from the Delta to Chicago, from one man with a guitar to a full band.
